The nail file is one of the essential tools to get in the starter kit for nail prosthetics. How to choose your nail files? Which grain of file for natural nails? Which file for gel false nails? Your expert nail supplier Maryton gives you advice.
The different types of nail file
Electric nail drill
Electric nail drill allow you to carry out work as precise as it is fast, without the risk of injuring your client’s fingers. Electric nail drill is best used on false nails and the cuticles of natural nails. They are ideal for filing the top of the gel nail, to smooth its appearance or to remove the first layers of artificial nails.
Stainless steel files
The stainless steel file is generally abrasive and requires a little dexterity. The person must always file their nails in the same direction so as not to weaken the free edge. Nevertheless, this type of file is not recommended for those who have soft, brittle or split nails.
Glass files
Just like stainless steel files, glass files are also recommended for individuals and not for professionals, because they break when they fall or undergo an impact. The glass nail file is ideal for people who have fragile, soft or brittle natural nails.
Cardboard/foam files
The cardboard nail file is disposable and therefore makes it possible to respect hygiene measures when it is intended for professional use. Depending on its abrasiveness, it can be used on natural and/or artificial nails.
Which lime grain to choose?
There are four types of grit for nail files. They can have the same grain on both sides, a 100/100 file for example, or two different grains, for example 180/240. The finer the grain, the more abrasive the file. Conversely, the thicker the grain, the softer the lime. Nail files with a medium grit 180 have an intermediate abrasive level, they can be used on the nails of the feet or more to reduce the opacity of the covering gels in nail prosthesis. Finally, there are coarse files 80 or 100 which are intended for artificial nails. Their roughness allows them to remove excess gel by filing hard surfaces, but also to shape resin or gel when applying false nails.
